Only Still Water Freezes
by Bill Russo (C) 2019
I see mountains in the distance,
they’re just hills. I have to climb
those monuments of resistance,
to make my way to the finish line.
The path is rough and never clear.
Seems like you’re never in the hunt.
The guy behind you is getting near,
and you're not gaining on the front.
Stay the course, just keep on moving
- even harder against the cold breezes.
Plod and push along, keep improving.
You’ll get there, for only still water freezes
Bill Russo is a retired journalist and broadcaster who was featured in the award winning documentary The Bridgewater Triangle. His account of meeting a swamp creature was also featured in segments on Monsters and Mysteries in America on Discovery's Destination America series, as well as in the Lore Podcast.
One of Bill's most popular fiction books is Whiz-Bang City - the Last Wild West Town. It's the fact based tale of a rowdy town in Oklahoma where in the 1920s shootouts on Main Street were as common as those 'new fangled' horseless carriages - and instead of horses the cowboys of Whiz Bang, rode to their gunfights in their Model T cars. Whiz Bang city is a free book and it is available only on Smashwords, which also charges no fees. https://www.smashwords.com/extreader/read/695784/1/the-last-wild-west-town-whiz-bang-city
