The
Timid Bigfoot Creatures of Australia
Most
everyone knows that Australia is home to some of the strangest animals on
earth; the Thorny Devil, the Kookaburra, the
Tasmanian Devil, and the Cassawary to name just a few.
While we all know of the
kangaroos and the wallabies, almost nobody knows about the Australian version
of Bigfoot. It’s called the Yowie.

The
Yowie is a term for the unidentified
hominid that resides in Australia, that resembles Bigfoot. The Australian Yowie Research Center, says
that the creature is similar to Bigfoot, but points out that there are big differences.

The Yowies are terrifying to look at - hairy, and up to 8 and a half feet tall (2.6
meters) with strong bodies and powerful arms and legs. They are said to walk
upright on two legs with a stooped gait.
They are hunched over or at least
appear to be, since their heads sink into
their shoulders. They have a pointed skull and thick protruding eyebrow ridges.
The feet of the Yowie are much larger than a human foot and they possess an
opposable toe.

Remains
of fossils found, that look like big human bones, appear to confirm the existence
of the Yowies in the past. With more recent expeditions finding new evidence, researchers
are convinced that they still exist, and are present today.
In
1875 a miner by the name J.H. Cambell was exploring the slopes of a western
castle when he saw a hairy 8 foot tall
man-like ape moving through the brush about 100 yards away from himself,
seemingly unaware of Cambell’s presence. In fear he picked up a strong piece of
tree limb and stalked the Yowie for a quarter of a mile before the Yowie vanished
without a trace.
Yowies
have never been known to harm or threaten people. Now, here’s the difference between them and
Bigfoot - It seems that they are afraid of people. Campers, miners, and other individuals
claim that the Yowies run in panic, at the sight of human beings.
In recent times, there were several
reports of Yowie sightings in the area around Acacia Hills. One such sighting
was by mango farmer Katrina Tucker who reported having been just a few yards
away from a hairy humanoid creature on her property. Photographs of
the footprint were collected at the time.
The Springbrook region in south-east Queensland has had more Yowie reports than anywhere else in
Australia In the late 1900s, former
Queensland Senator Bill Ochee reported to the Gold Coast Bulletin
he had seen a Yowie while on a school trip in Springbrook. O'Chee
compared the creature he saw to the character Chewbacca from Star Wars. He told reporters that the creature he saw had
been over nine feet tall!
Are the Yowies real? Just as in North America, the land of
Bigfoot, there are believers and non-believers.
In which group are you?
