A cauldron (group) of bats crash into the top floor of a skyscraper
– but that’s impossible! Bats have the best radar on earth! A few of the creatures
survive, and investigators carefully gather the dead and the injured.
“I want to see those bats in my laboratory, immediately,” says the top scientist in the nation. Meanwhile, fearing a foreign country is trying to disrupt our radar systems, the government investigates. They learn that a strong microwave beam is being directed towards the building from directly above.
This is a season one, color episode from April 29,
1955. The episode was shown just four
days before the first microwave oven was offered for sale. It was a large
220-volt wall unit from Tappan (now part of Electrolux). It sold for $1,295 (more
than $11,000 in the money of the 2020s).
